James Baldwin versus Malcolm X Essay -- Race African American

Gentle Yet Strong: Leading the Oppressed Malcolm X and James Baldwin were two men that played a large role in defining a people and a cause during the 1950s and 1960s. Both of these men were dynamic African-Americans who lived primarily to help their people, who were terribly persecuted in the United States for many years. The interesting thing about these two men is that they strove towards the same goal—to unify African-Americans and give them strength and confidence—but they accomplished this goal in very different ways. Malcolm X, a leader in the Nation of Islam movement, believed that African-Americans needed to acquire strength and confidence so that they could separate from the White man and live together in peace, harmony, and production. On the other hand, James Baldwin, renowned writer, believed it necessary for African-Americans to have strength and confidence so that they might coexist on the same level as whites and accomplish what whites were accomplishing. The methodology and teachings of J ames Baldwin and Malcolm X differed greatly, but their general belief, that African-Americans were just as good as everybody else prevailed over all else, and made these men two of the very important faces of a generation. More often than not, the quality of leadership lies deep within certain people. It is not a quality that people build or develop easily. The basis of good leadership is personality. Those who have dynamic and charismatic personalities can lead, if they choose to do so. Malcolm X possessed these types of qualities. This information should be stored away in a locked cupboard or on computer with a password. Timings and costs; Timing and costs should always be memorised and learnt by all staff members to ensure the salon runs efficiently, that the clients are well informed on procedures and prices and so that there is no dispute with the information given and that treatments won go over causing over booking of the therapist and loss of profits for the salon. How to keep payments safe and secure; Payments should be kept safe and secure in a cash register with a key or electronic lock, and only people of authority should have a copy of a copy of the keys or codes. What types of problems that may occur in the salon; Miss-informed treatment prices leading to an unhappy customer. Clients being late for appointments and being turned away or asked to wait due to time keeping the receptionist and therapist has to keep to run a smooth salon. Contra-actions due to a reaction to certain treatments leading to an unhappy client. All of these problems should be referred to the salon manager or owner to deal with, as you as the therapist have no jurisdiction here, unless you are salon manager.

Karl Marx’s Views on Today’s Society - 1675 Words

In the market place of today there are high skilled workers and low skilled workers. The high skilled workers have control of the market due to their credentials as the owners did in the past, since the market has moved from the owners operating the businesses. The low skilled workers fall into the same class, as they were under Marx’s theory as workers however their equivalent is to that of a serf or a peasant. It seems that Marx would be disgusted with what the market place had become today. Marx believed that in order to get things done legislatively, make sure that the laws are followed and that the low skilled workers still have a job, the high skilled workers had to take control. Currently the young pay for benefits to be provided to the disabled and the elderly when they hit the age of retirement. This concept also plays a part in a way with the amount of taxes that are paid in by workers. It seems that the high skilled workers out of paying more in taxes since they are able to find more deductions, whereas the low skilled workers would not have those same deductions to use therefore have to pay more in. According to Marx’s â€Å"Labor theory of value† the common low skilled worker in the market of today is being underpaid and the high-skilled workers who run the market are pocketing the difference. This compounded with the added burden of high taxes and paying for the benefits of the elderly and disabled is an unstable basis for a market. Marx believed that all low-skilled workers needed is enough money to survive, in the market today the common man wants much more than just to survive. During Reconstruction, the most glaring political consequence of the Radical Republican efforts was that a great majority of Southern whites sided with the Democratic party. Also, although the U.S. Congress tried to give more political and voting freedom to blacks in the 15th Amendment, Democratic leaders limited their access by reducing the number of eligible black voters.
